Healthcare E-commerce Migration

Custom CMS + MS SQL → WordPress

A full migration of an existing e-commerce project from a custom CMS to WordPress. The job was more than moving the interface: the content, the store structure and the key business logic had to survive the move from an MS SQL–based system to a new WordPress architecture. I migrated and adapted the data and content, rebuilt the pages in Elementor, fixed the responsive layouts, adapted the e-commerce functionality and reworked the checkout.

Commercial project completed as part of an agency team. Client identity and live URL are not disclosed.

Challenge

The original store ran on a custom CMS and MS SQL. The goal was not just to build new pages but to move a working store to a platform that is easier to maintain without losing its commercial flows — including selling both regular and subscription products.

Solution

  • 01 Migrating and adapting data and content from the MS SQL legacy system to WordPress.
  • 02 Keeping the store and page structure intact.
  • 03 Rebuilding the frontend in Elementor and fixing the responsive layouts.
  • 04 Custom checkout logic: one-time and subscription products in one cart and one checkout.

The checkout was reworked so a customer can put a regular and a subscription product into the same cart and buy them in one flow — instead of a separate checkout path for each type.

Result

The store moved from a legacy CMS to WordPress with its core e-commerce logic intact. The new architecture makes pages and content easier to work with, and the custom checkout kept the business flow the store needs.
